There’s something about the 4th of July in Park City that hits differently. Maybe it’s the crisp mountain air, the energy on Main Street, or the way the whole town feels like one big backyard barbecue. Whatever it is, if you’re planning to be here, you’re in for a good one.
🏃♂️ Start the Day with the Fun Run
Kick off your morning with the Park City Ski & Snowboard 5K Fun Run at 8:00 a.m. It winds through Old Town and raises money for local youth athletes. Walk it, run it, push a stroller—everyone’s welcome.
✈️ Look Up: Fighter Jet Flyover
Just before the parade, around 10:45 a.m., look to the sky for a U.S. Air Force fighter jet flyover—a crowd favorite that always gives us chills.
🎈 Parade on Main Street – 11:00 a.m.
If there’s one event you don’t want to miss, it’s the Main Street parade. It kicks off at 11:00 a.m., but plan to arrive no later than 9:30. And yes, people really do set up chairs early, like really early.
You’ll see decked-out floats, old firetrucks, marching bands, local businesses tossing candy, and maybe a moose mascot or two.
Local Tip: Main Street closes to traffic by 9:30 a.m., so plan to walk, bike, or use the free shuttle to get in. Spots fill up quickly, so get yours early and bring water and snacks!
🎡 City Park Afternoon Vibes
After the parade, head down to City Park and the Skate Park for a super chill afternoon. From 12:30 to 4:00 p.m., you’ll find:
- 🍔 Food trucks and cold drinks
- 🎶 Live music under the pines
- 🏐 Rugby and volleyball tournaments
- 🎈 Games and bounce houses for the kiddos
- 📚 Book sale at the Library (10 a.m.–4 p.m.)
It’s classic small-town fun with big mountain views. Lay out a blanket, catch some shade, and enjoy the buzz.
🎉 Make It a Weekend: Forum Fest at Canyons Village
Want to keep the party going? Forum Fest at Canyons Village runs July 1–5, and it’s packed with live music, DJs, food trucks, games, drinks, and dancing under the stars.
On July 4 (starting at 3 PM):
- DJ sets and live music
- Lawn games, local eats, and craft cocktails
- Chill atmosphere with plenty of space to roam
- A perfect warm-up for the drone show later that night
July 5 brings a second drone show, so if you’re staying the weekend, be sure not to miss it.
📍 Free parking at the Cabriolet Lot, then ride the gondola up

✨ End the Day with the Drone Show – 10:00 p.m.
At 10:00 p.m., Park City lights up the night sky with a drone show in place of fireworks—and it’s honestly incredible. Think synchronized lights dancing over the mountains with zero smoke or fire danger.
📍 Best viewing spots:
- Base of Park City Mountain
- Park City Golf Course
- Lower Main Street near Town Lift
Bring a blanket, maybe a few snacks, and settle in early. This is the grand finale.
🚫 Leave the Fireworks at Home
Due to fire danger, Park City has a strict ban on personal fireworks and open flames. Please don’t bring sparklers or firepits—just enjoy the professional (and safe!) shows.
🅿️ Getting Around: Parking & Shuttles
Free parking lots:
- Park City High School
- Deer Valley (select lots)
- Canyons Cabriolet Lot (great for Forum Fest)
Free shuttles:
Park City’s transit system runs all day and late into the night, and it’s free.

Heads up: Go early! Road closures start early around Main Street. If you’re not in place by 9:30 a.m. (at the absolute latest), getting in gets tricky.
